The carrier is introducing free fast in-flight connectivity through satellite partnership

Passengers aboard British Airways can soon access quick wifi during flights at no cost due to a recent deal from SpaceX's space provider.

Free plus Fast Internet Across the Board

The carrier stated that this no-cost, “quick and reliable” connectivity offering from SpaceX will be available for passengers flying coach, business, and first class starting soon.

Widespread Deployment Over Various Flight Operators

The umbrella company of BA, IAG, confirmed it had reached an agreement with the satellite firm to provide internet coverage across 500-plus planes operated by their operators, such as Aer Lingus, the Spanish carrier, plus Vueling.

Uninterrupted Internet starting at Gate to Landing

BA stated that the implementation of the service formed part of a seven billion pound “modernization” plan that will deliver uninterrupted connectivity service to passengers starting at boarding to landing, even when they are flying over large bodies of water or far-off locations.

Passengers can link multiple electronics and won't need to need a special access code.

“Gamechanging for British Airways and passengers, elevating their experience onboard our flights by offering passengers seamless wifi throughout the flight.”

Present Wifi Offerings

Basic wifi service remains offered for British Airways flyers through nearly all of its jets using its .air platform.

Members in BA’s loyalty club can dispatch texts and text-based messages onboard at no cost, whereas travelers looking to stream music, video, and content throughout their travel who are not flying in premium cabins might be charged from £4.99 to twenty-one pounds ninety-nine per internet bundle.

SpaceX’s Infrastructure

The provider operates a network of many thousands with satellites and is operated by Elon Musk’s aerospace firm.

Recent Improvements at BA

Their leadership have been working to revitalize operations again following a period with financial constraints, technology issues, labor disputes, plus large-scale layoffs.

BA explained that implementation with smart technology contributed to them to reach its on-time performance to the best levels from over a decade ago.

Financial Performance

Earlier this year, British Airways announced a rise in operating profits during the first six months of this year, assisting IAG’s profit to grow.

International Airlines Group is set to release their financial performance for the three months recently soon.

Other Satellite Partnerships

The airline's news follows days after wireless carrier the telecom firm announced it was partnering alongside the satellite provider to boost wireless connectivity in the countryside of the UK, enabling users to easily connect mobile devices through orbiting devices if there is no regular network coverage exists.
