Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Tasks Are Way Too Hard
The launch of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 received significant enthusiasm, particularly for its premier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, concurrent player counts reached a high of nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, regardless of its fanfare, many players are protesting against a portion of the release's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.
Players have started resorting to custom matches made via the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how grueling these challenges have become.
Comprehending BF6 Assignments
Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, in contrast to the regularly refreshed everyday and weekly missions. It features four classes of assignments, but while the majority only reward cosmetics and some tools, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of obtaining 12 of the 41 key firearms available in the game.
Some of these restricted firearms could shortly find their way on rankings for the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry across Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are justifiably sharing their frustrations about how hard and tedious a number of these challenges are. One user highlighted one of the most extreme examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so terrible and completely out of mind, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a comment that illustrates just how excessively challenging these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it lacks nearly as many advantages in battle as it did in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.
Additionally, using an LMG from the hip is wildly inaccurate and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is seldom the location you want to be. The commenter also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that task would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Extremely Difficult Mission
One more community participant brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, within the long-range weapon type to obtain the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with long-range weapons
This is challenging enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at such a long range.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but since there are only nine battlegrounds in the game at present, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, another expansive area, and possibly an additional option at a push if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.
The Bypass
However, there is a solution: the portal. The Battlefield Portal is a system that permits you to make custom game modes on whatever map you choose, including AI opponents. This allows you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the spirit of the game.
But when doing the challenges in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you have to play in such an unorthodox manner that offers no advantage to anyone, who can blame someone for finishing these in a custom game so allies are not impaired?
Potential Changes
It should not be shocking if several of these tasks are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because should they remain unchanged, a portion of the user base simply are unlikely to obtain the restricted guns.
At the moment, the player base continues to voice their opinions on these strenuous multiplayer missions, anticipating a less arduous overall gameplay in future updates.
